12 people killed, 3 killed at the Taste of the City Lounge

Three people were killed and nine others were injured in a night shooting involving several armed men in a Brooklyn nightclub, police said on Sunday.

The shooting took place at the Taste of the City Lounge on Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights district, said New York police commissioner Jessica Tisch, at a press conference.

The calls came to report a shooting on the show at 3:27 a.m., and the officers were on the scene in a few minutes, said Tisch.

“What we know preliminary is that there was a dispute inside the crowded club that led to the shooting,” Tisch told journalists. “We think there were up to four shooters involved in this incident.”

No suspects are in detention, and city officials urged the public to present information related to the shooting. It is currently believed that it is linked to a gang, said Tisch.

Police said they had recovered 42 shell liners from the scene, from 9 mm and caliber .45, according to the commissioner. A firearm has been recovered nearby, but it is not yet clear if it has been used in the incident.

People killed were a 27 -year -old man, a 35 -year -old man and a 19 -year -old man said Tisch. The injured were transported to local hospitals with injuries that are not putting their life in danger, she said.

“This is a terrible thing that happened this morning, and we are going to investigate to determine what happened,” said Tisch.

Mayor Eric Adams expressed his concern that there could be reprisal attacks after the shooting. The crisis management teams were mobilized in the community, he added.

“The armed violence of this magnitude, it really breaks a community and a city,” said Adams.

Taste of the City Lounge declared in an Instagram story that it was “devastated” by the shooting and that it held the wounded and the families of the deceased in his prayers.

“The security and well-being of our guests and our community have always been our top priority,” said the show. “We are working closely with the police and will continue to cooperate fully as the investigation progresses.”
