Seoul, South Korea – North Korea said this leader on Wednesday Kim Jong Une Jong U had observed the first missile tests of a recently launched destroyer – the first warship of this type for the North – and called to accelerate efforts to strengthen the nuclear attack capacities of his navy.
North Korea last week unveiled the destroyer of 5,000 tonnes equipped with what he called the most powerful weapons built in his war industry. During the launching ceremony on Friday at the western port of Nampo, Kim qualified the construction of the “breakthrough” ship in the modernization of the Naval forces of North Korea.
External experts say it is the first destructive in North Korea and that it was probably built with Russian aid. They say that the Naval forces of North Korea are lagging behind in South Korea, but still consider the destructive as a threat of serious security because it could strengthen the capacity of attack and defense of North Korea.
The official Korean central press agency said on Wednesday that Kim watched the tests of the supersonic and strategic cruise missiles of destroyer, anti -aircraft missiles, automatic cannons and electronic firearms earlier this week.
He appreciated the combination of the powerful striking weapons ship and conventional defenses and set tasks to speed up his navy’s nuclear arms, according to the report.
During the ship’s launch ceremony, Kim said the destroyer would be deployed at the start of next year. He said that the acquisition of a nuclear propulsion submarine would be his next step in strengthening his navy. He underlined the need to strengthen the deterrent capacity of North Korea to deal with what he called the climbing of hostilities led by the United States targeting the North.
An analysis of the photos of the warship shows that its anti-aircraft radar system is most likely from Russia, said Lee Illwoo, a defense expert in South Korea. He said that the engine ship’s engine system and some of its anti-aerial weapons systems were also likely from Russia.
North Korea and Russia have considerably expanded soldiers and other cooperation in recent years, the North providing conventional troops and weapons to support Russia’s war efforts against Ukraine. The United States, South Korea and its partners are concerned that Russia will most likely provide in return in North Korea in high-tech weapons technologies which can improve its nuclear program as well as the expedition of another military and economic assistance.
Lee said that the deployment of a warship with an advanced radar system off the west coast of North Korea could strongly strengthen its air defense capacities for Pyongyang, the capital. Lee said that South Korea, which has 12 destroyers, still largely exceeds the Naval forces of North Korea. But he said that the North Korean destroyer, which can transport around 80 missiles, can still constitute a serious threat, because the South Korea’s navy probably did not prepare such an enemy warship.
The animosities of the Korean peninsula are high while North Korea continues its weapons testing activities intended to expand its nuclear and missile arsenals. On Monday, North Korea confirmed for the first time that it had sent combat troops to Russia to support its war efforts against Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked North Korea and promised not to forget the sacrifices of North Korean soldiers for Russia.
