Los Angeles disorders persist while demonstrators gather against migrant arrests | Protests


Federal agents have pulled flashbangs and tear gas towards angry crowds by the arrests of dozens of migrants in Los Angeles, in the United States, a city with a large Latin American population.

The Department of Internal Security said that immigration and customs’ application operations (ICE) in Los Angeles this week had led to the arrest of “118 foreigners, including five gang members”.

The favoss came on Saturday in the suburbs of Paramount, where the demonstrators gathered outside a reported federal installation, which, according to the local mayor, was used as a staging post by agents.

Friday, masked and armed immigration agents carried out high -level work raids in different parts of Los Angeles, attracting angry crowds and causing confrontations of several hours.

The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, admitted that some residents “felt” following federal actions.

“Everyone has the right to protest peacefully, but allow me to be clear: violence and destruction are unacceptable, and those responsible will be responsible,” she said on X.

FBI deputy director Dan Bongino said that multiple arrests were made after Friday clashes.

“You bring chaos, and we will do handcuffs. The law and the order will prevail,” he said on X.

The White House took a firm position against the demonstrations, with the deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller describing them as “an insurrection against the laws and sovereignty of the United States”.
