Crystal Palace ready to do everything you need to play in the UEFA Europa League for next season | Football news

Crystal Palace is ready to do everything you need to convince UEFA that they should be allowed to play in the Europa League next season.

The palace may be withdrawn from competition by UEFA to break the rules of multi-club property.

The American businessman John Textor has actions of Palace and Ligue 1 Side Lyon, the two clubs qualified for the Europa League and who put the place of the Eagles in danger.

UEFA rules prohibit clubs with the same property group playing in the same competition. In cases where a conflict of interest occurs, the club which ended below in its national league loses its place.

Palace finished 12th in the Premier League, while Lyon finished sixth in Ligue 1.

Palace Executive President Steve Parish and Textor attended a meeting on Tuesday at UEFA headquarters in Switzerland to discuss their case and defend the rights of Eagles and Lyon to play in the Europa League for next season.

The palace would have presented a convincing case explaining why they should be allowed to play in the Europa League for the first time.

The club would have argued that Textor has personally less than 30% palace and that all the decisions relating to Palace are made by the parish and its management team rather than by Textor. As a minority action, Textor has his say, but Palace insists that their advice structure means that Parish has the influential vote, supported by his partners Josh Harris and David Blitzer.

Palace argued that Lyon and Lyon missed the deadline for UEFA on March 1 to change their property structure because only a series of unforeseen circumstances led the two to qualify for the Europa League

The FA Cup of Palace was the first major trophy in their history, while Lyon finished sixth in Ligue 1 after Strasbourg conceded a late equalizer on the last day of the season. It was only after Paris Saint-Germain won the French cup that the European niche was returned to the team that finished sixth in the league.

Palace told UEFA that they were now ready to take immediate measures to comply with their regulations to ensure that they can play in the Europa League.

Textor has also clearly indicated that he was trying to sell his participation in Palace because they are an independent club that does not integrate into his multi-club Eagle Football Holdings property company.

Any violation of UEFA rules by the shareholders, it has been argued, has been a rather than intentional technical administrative error.

Other clubs that are part of multi-club ownership groups have played in the same UEFA competition, including RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg, and Manchester City and Girona in the Champions League last season.
