Former Jockey Champion William Buick was delighted to finally add the Gold Cup to his CV after the success of Trawlerman in Royal Ascot.
“He has this pulmonary capacity and this endurance. He had a big rhythm – it is a difficult thing to do, to be in front of two and a half miles like that, but it is so authentic.
“I knew he would stay, which is of great help. It took me a long time to save this – I knew he was the right horse, I just hoped that I would do it directly on him.”

John Gosden spoke of his relief after what looked like a long final speaker for the manager of Clarehaven.
