Bear eat a “one week’s value” of honey after escaping

With a pair of bear bears, the police were called and a firearm unit shipped to the fauna park in the southwest England.

But panic was quickly repressed when Mish and Lucy were quickly found in the Honey store on Monday, after eating a week of sweet bustry stocks at the Wildwood Devon.

The sisters managed to get out through a rear door that had been opened while the staff worked with vehicles inside, Mark Habben, director of zoological operations of the park, said on Wednesday in a telephone interview.

“They were not in public space, but they were out of their premises in the personnel areas, which were walking,” he said.

With their new freedom and their smell found 2,000 times higher than humans, they went to the kitchens.

“We had a delivery of fresh food with all the fruits and vegetables only an hour before they escape,” said Habben about supplies that would have lasted four days. “They ate all the bananas, apples, fresh food and vegetables,” he said.

The brothers and sisters then found jars of honey in the region where the staff are preparing meals and “ate about a week,” he said.

“They have an incredible smell, so they just walked in search of their favorite foods, then they fell asleep,” he said.

The escape of Mish and Lucy caused an emergency evacuation throughout the park and the deployment of an intervention team of firearms supported by local police, said Habben.

He added that there were never any dangers that the bears were killed “because the bears were very, very calm,” he said, adding that no one was injured.

“All they wanted to do was recover at the end,” he said.

After an hour to search for snacks, Mish, which weighs around 400 pounds, was just returned to the enclosure, and Lucy, which weighs around 300 pounds, ran inside after the guards have sounded a bell that she was formed to follow, said Habben.

European brown bears were rescued as cubs of a snow drift in Albania in 2019, Habben said. Originally, they were supposed to be released in Romania, but when it did not work Wildwood built a “tailor-made forest house” for the pair, he added.

“They are really curious, really friendly and very fun,” he said. “They are very intrigued by everything.”
