County championship: Jofra Archer takes the counter as drawing Sussex in Durham in the Division A | Cricket news

Jofra Archer took a counter while the versatile Danial Ibrahim scored an undefeated 121 while Sussex drew in Durham after declared 322-6 in Division One of the Rothesay County County Championship.

The visitors had resumed the game at 111-4 with an advance of 145 and managed to slow down the match despite the Matthew Potts bowling poll (2-44) and Ben Raine (2-60).

Farbrace: Archer one of the best in the world

Sussex’s head coach Paul Farbrace says that England will be better with Archer’s bowling and thinks he is “one of the best in the world”.

“Whether it is England, India, Australia, New Zealand, you want the best players in the world to play, and Jofra is one of the best players in the world’s cricket,” he said.

“It has been incredibly unlucky with injuries in recent years, but the only thing for which I cannot rent it enough is what it helps in Sussex.

“Even when he doesn’t play, he’s brilliant around our team. He is great with our guys, he shares his experience. He is a very optimistic character, and we all want to see him again on the field.

“He just likes to play the game, he likes bowling and England will be a better team for Jofra Archer to be available to play in the rest of this series and, hopefully, the ashes in winter. It will give England a much better chance of winning, but just as we have to be careful and everyone must be careful with him.

“But there was no restriction; he was able to play what he wanted.

“He played 18 letters in the first round, he went through him and seems to be in good shape since.

“Hopefully he can continue to build to play for England.”
