Dan Sheehan is congratulated by teammate Henry Pollock after marking the opening of the lions against Western Force
The British and Irish lions produced a second half devastating wave to defeat Western Force 54-7 in Perth.
The Lions led 21-7 at the break at the Optus stadium thanks to Dan Sheehan’s first half tests, Tomos Williams and Elliot Daly, but were embarrassed by bad discipline, with Henry Pollock Sinned after a succession of sanctions.
But the lions have drawn an emphatic line under their disjointed display in the first half, moving away from force with five unanswered trials and a performance that has thrown solid foundations for the future.
Scrum-Half Williams and the lateral back Daly crossed their second scores, with Garry Ringrose, Joe McCarthy and Alex Mitchell also touched to win a first victory on Australian soil for Andy Farrell’s team.
More to follow.
