An odor reported at Charlotte Douglas International Airport sent a number of crew members to the hospital on Friday with unspecified injuries, American Airlines said in a statement.
Before the passengers climbed aboard flight 2055 on Friday, the smell was reported, said AA.
The crew members received medical care on site, said the airline. Some were taken to the hospital where they were treated and then released.
Affiliate of NBC News WCNC Charlotte said seven people had been taken from the airport to the hospital for treatment. Six people suffered minor injuries and a person had serious symptoms, the point of sale reported.
It was not immediately clear what was the smell or where it came from. The nature of the injuries was not clear either, but WCNC said they were the result of the inhalation of something.
The plane involved has been put out of service and will be inspected, said American Airlines.
