Israeli defense forces and Israeli securities authority have killed the co-founder of Hamas, Hakham Muhammad Issa al-Issa, during a strike in Gaza City on Friday, a statement from the FDI.
Al-Issa was affected in the Sabra district in the city, according to the press release.
“Hakham Muhammad Issa al-Issa was a key knowledge source and one of the last terrorists in the remaining Hamas in the Gaza Strip who held high-ranking positions before October 7, 2023,” said the FDI.
The Israeli army described Al-Issa as a senior figure in the militant group’s military wing and said he was considered a founder of Hamas himself and the Hamas military wing. At the time of his death, he was at the head of his headquarters in combat.
Al-Issa was also a member of the General Security Council of Hamas, said the FDI. In the past, Al-Issa has led “efforts to strengthen the forces in the Gaza Strip” and were head of the training seat.
The IDF said that Al-Issa “had played an important role in planning and execution of the brutal of October 7”, but neglected to share the role he played.
More than 1,200 people were killed when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023 and took more than 250 people hostage. Almost two years later, 50 people remain in captivity in Gaza, but 28 of these people would have died.
The assault on reprisals of Israel on the Gaza Strip killed more than 56,000 people and left thousands of others injured, moved and with sparse resources, including food, water and medical supplies.
President Donald Trump on Friday said that A ceasefire could go into play next week. It was not clear if it would be a temporary or permanent ceasefire, or if prisoner exchanges would be involved as in the previous temporary ceasefire agreements.
During the war between Israel and Hamas, Al-Issa worked to rebuild Hamas organizational systems that were damaged in Israeli strikes, the FDI said. Always throughout the war, the FDIs said that Al-Issa had advanced attacks on Israeli citizens and TSAhal troops in Gaza.
The FDI in its declaration has undertaken to “locate and eliminate all the terrorists of the various terrorist organizations who participated in the brutal massacre of October 7”.
