Lewis Hamilton: Ferrari Driver Ravi from “Mega Progress” to Austrian GP after the best F1 result of the correspondence season | F1 News

Lewis Hamilton thinks that Ferrari made “Mega Progress” after matching his best result of the Formula 1 2025 season with fourth at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Hamilton described Ferrari’s operations as a “world class” when he described the best fourth of the season and was still optimistic about his race performance, despite 10 seconds behind teammate Charles Leclerc, who marked his fourth podium this season.

Ferrari brought a new floor to Austria in order to get closer to the front and only McLaren exceeded them during the Sunday race, while George Russell of Mercedes finished more than half a minute behind Hamilton.

“Mega progressing for us as a team, so we have to say a big thank you to the guys from the factory for bringing the upgrade this weekend,” said Hamilton Sky Sports F1.

“It didn’t seem much on paper. It was really a small step, but maybe it had a greater influence on our performances.

“So that we are the second fastest team this weekend, we are not a minute from McLaren, which is positive. To embarrass very strong points, I am really happy.”

Bernie Ecclestone thinks that Lewis Hamilton will not win an eighth F1 record title

Hamilton will be confident before his home event at the British Grand Prix this week, where he won a record nine times.

The seven times world champion says he is “really proud” of Ferrari’s efforts in the Red Bull ring.

“I think everyone in the team will be happier. I think the guys back to the factory can be proud of the work they have accomplished,” he said.

“Everyone here has certainly been much calmer and more methodical this weekend, certainly a better outing of the team.”

Leclerc: Ferrari working in the right direction

Ferrari was unable to pass their low car on the ground due to a problem with the rear suspension this year, which cost them the performance.

Leclerc and Hamilton were disqualified at the Chinese Grand Prix, so the team worked to design the car in a way it can operate the car, without exceeding the board.

Leclerc was held on the podium three times from the last four events, which underlines Ferrari’s progress, although they are still far from McLaren.

“We are working in the right direction. I think we have brought up to be upgrades this weekend, which helped us fill the gap a little,” said Leclerc Sky Sports F1.

“The gap is still significant and we must push in order to bring as much upgrades as possible as soon as possible in order to fill this gap.

“But it was a positive weekend overall, I think. I am happy that we have maximized our potential, now we must have better potential.”

Protruding facts of an exciting Austrian Grand Prix in the Red Bull ring

Ferrari will seek to reproduce last year when they made major progress with their development of cars during the season and finished at only 14 points behind the McLaren champions in the manufacturers’ championship.

Leclerc and Hamilton had no realistic luck to win a Grand Prix in 2025, which the driver of Mongasque hopes to happen.

“Just for the people back in Maranello, for the people of the track, for us, the drivers, to know that we can return the situation and be competitive again is very important for everyone. It would be really nice (to win),” he said.

“However, at the end of the season, I think it will be very unlikely to reverse the situation at a point where we can win the manufacturers’ championship because the point difference is very important and I do not see why McLaren will start to do a very bad job from now on.

“We have to keep your head down, keep working very hard, and whatever we can still learn this season, we have to learn it.”
