Calandagan by Francis-Henri Graffard finally obtained a crown from group 1, previously elusive with a success in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.
Secondly, four times at the highest level since the strike at Royal Ascot last summer, Francis-Henri Graffard, four years old, locked the horns with some of the best in the world, performing admirably against City of Troy and more recently Jan Brueghel in Epsom.
However, he returned to the ground at home, he turned out to be a fan above the opposition in what seemed to be a stained competition on paper, taking the assault of three and a half lengths away from the adventure of Christophe Ferland of the Arc de Triomphe.
Graffard said: “Well, he is not non -manager. The race went very well for him and I thought he was traveling much more in the rhythm of the race this time.
Mickael (Barzalona, Jockey) said he had to ask him to follow sometimes during the race, but then in the straight line, when there is rhythm and that he can follow the rhythm, he can really extend and accelerate very strongly. I thought he was really impressive.
“After Epsom, my first conclusion was that he needed the race against this horse on this floor that day. I thought he was coming a lot for that and I think he has experience with his jockey who knows him better too.
“He never ran a bad race and was beaten by a champion or circumstances. Today, everything happened to him and we saw how good he could be.
“I will obviously discuss King George with links, but he has the right to go to ASCOT, it is a place that he won before and I would like to take him 100%.”
Calandagan’s victory crowned a beautiful afternoon for Graffard and the Aga Khan Studs team while looking at Daryz earlier to stay undefeated with an impressive display in the Eugene Adam Prize.
The roller of the city of George Scott can count unhappy to collide with the exciting son of Sea The Stars, who after being shortened at only 14-1 for the Arc, could make a trip to York for the international challenges of Juddmonte later in summer.
“We are going to do it step by step with Calandagan and the next race (in Ascot) is a big one.
“I’m going to chat with Princess Zahra where she would like to go, but I will probably make an entry for Daryz in York and it’s a horse that I like a lot. I have to make it more difficult and give her experience and I think he will get him if he goes abroad.”
