Defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis could be considered their most important player, because he managed to stand out last season in what was a diabolical campaign for the club. According to Lyall Thomas de Sky Sports, Southampton refused an offer worth 19 million pounds sterling for Harwood-Bellis from Porto. Although they are under contract until 2028, the saints are open to the sale of the defender in this transfer window, but they believe that it is much more.

Southampton paid 15 million pounds sterling To sign the Manchester City player last summer, so the probability is that he will want to double this price.

Southampton in Advanced Talks to sign the striker of 7 million pounds sterling

But while Harwood -Bellis could possibly get out of St Mary stadium, Florian Prettenberg of Sky Sports reports good news – Southampton is close to the signature of Damion Downs from FC Köln.

The 20 -year -old is considered a higher target for saints this summer, and they have submitted an offer 8 million euroswhich is around 6.85 million pounds sterling, on the German side. Downs is currently absent with the United States for the Gold Cup, so an agreement for the attacker should be completed once the competition is completed.

Downs, who has obtained two ceilings for the United States national team, has been at FC Köln since 2020, when he joined his team under 17. The young attacker made his way through the age groups and was finally promoted to the first team during the 2023/24 season, where he played 10 Bundesliga games. Downs became even more a regular last season because he played 29 games, this time in Bundesliga 2, and scored ten impressive goals in the process.

Downs remains only one year on his contract, and the saints hope that this can work to their advantage, because the German part will probably want to sell the player before leaving the club for nothing in 12 months.

They can also have another advantage in the race to sign the stockings, because the attacker is represented by the Wasserman agencywhich also represent the current midfielder of Southampton Downes, perhaps smooth the negotiations in matters of personal conditions in matters of agreement.
