The new trailer for “Project Hail Mary” gives a first overview of Ryan Gosling in space

A first overview of “Project Hail Mary”, the next science fiction thriller with Ryan Gosling, captures how a college teacher is suddenly responsible for saving the world – from space.

Based on Andy Weir’s novel in 2021 of the same name, “Project Hail Mary” focuses on the mission of Ryland thanks to space after a mysterious astronomical phenomenon threatens the existence of humanity.

In a trailer for the film, which was presented exclusively on “Today” on June 30, Gosling is represented with long hair and a beard, shouting: “I just woke up from coma.”

“And I am not an astronaut,” he repeats several times-until the following scene shows it by echoing the same feeling before its fateful mission.

The trailer explains that the sun is dying, and Ryland, a former scientist who has become a college professor, could be the only hope of the government to understand why.

The mission is called Project Hail Mary, taking into account the “long blow” of Ryland to his survival. With its history of molecular biology, Ryland is nicknamed the only hope of the earth.

The exciting trailer, featuring the “sign of time” of Harry Styles, sees Ryland fight to survive in the light years of space far from the earth. And while working to communicate his conclusions to his team, he can meet some foreigners along the way.

“Project Hail Mary” will also feature Sandra Hüller, known for “The Zone of Interest” of 2023 and “Anatomy of a Fall”.

The script was written by Drew Goddard, while the film was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The film will be released in theaters and in Imax on March 20, 2026.

Weir also wrote “The Martian”, which was adapted in a 2015 film, with Matt Damon.
