Azerbaijan’s Arguj Kalantarli notes the “humanitarian disaster on an unimaginable scale” in Gaza, in the Member State of Palestine.
The secretary general of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) was elected during a session held in Baku, according to the Azerbaijan news agency (APA)
The head of the International Department of Relations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel Arguj Kalatarli, was elected unanimously to the post.
Kalatarli gave a speech, highlighting the “humanitarian disaster on an unimaginable scale” in Gaza and in occupied West Bank, noting that Palestine is a Member State of the ICDO.
“Food, water, drugs, refuge, they are no longer fundamental rights,” he said. “The relatives of the Palestinians slide through our fingers,” he added.

The ICDO is an intergovernmental organization that contributes to the development of countries to help protect populations, goods and the environment against disasters and natural or artificial conflicts.
The candidates of four member states of the organization – in Azerbaijan, Serbia, Burkina Faso and Tunisia – were in the running for the position.
