Katie Taylor plans to fight again after the victory of the Amanda Serrano trilogy | Boxing news

Katie Taylor could have boxed for the last time. The Irish superstar and undisputed champion in super-lights will examine her future after her last victory over Amanda Serrano.

At the head of the female card at the Madison Square Garden in New York, Taylor has over -developed Serrano to win his third fight by majority decision.

Taylor is now 39, an undisputed two -weight champion and is an Olympic gold medalist. She avenged her only professional defeat against Chantelle Cameron and won each fight in an epic trilogy with Serrano.

The day after her last triumph over Serrano, Taylor admitted that she would increase her retirement or fight.

“I wouldn’t say that I still have to prove. I’m going to relax, I’m making a decision to know if I’ll fight again in the future,” said Taylor.

“I just have to take advantage of this victory right now. Sit, think, then I make a decision on this subject soon.”

His rivalry with Serrano concluded. “I do not think that anyone could deny having won this evening, so it’s very, very satisfactory,” said Taylor. “I was so happy to have been able to show what I could do.

“The other previous fights, some people won it, some people made me win, so there was always this debate there. That is why there was this trilogy.

“I have the impression that it was a very, very dominant performance.

“It’s incredible to have a rival like this in sport,” she added. “I think we are both sitting very, very proud at the moment.”

Taylor has achieved almost everything to do in sport. But the appeal of a potential fight in Croke Park in Dublin could keep it in boxing.

“It would be incredible,” she said. “These people spend their hard money won to support me. It just means the world. I can’t believe it’s my life.

“What an incredible life. These are nights I dreamed when I was a child.”

But Cameron, the only professional opponent to hold a victory over Taylor, could find it difficult to fight with the super-light champion.

Cameron defended the temporary WBC title against Jessica Camara on the Taylor-Serrano III subcardier. She will seek to put pressure for a compulsory WBC shot at super-lightweight championship, one of the four titles in the world that Taylor won her in their revenge match in 2023.

But Taylor was scathing with regard to the prospect of fighting Cameron a third time.

“I think Chantelle must see if she can first sell an arena of 1,000 seats. I don’t think she can sell a stadium,” said Taylor.

“I think I made him more money than she really deserves it to be completely honest.”
