New York – Walmart Recalls around 850,000 bottles of stainless steel water because the lid can “forcefully eject” and unexpected consumers – resulting in permanent vision loss for two people to date.
The recall covers the “Ozark Trail 64 Oz in stainless steel Isiling Water Bottles”, which have been sold in channel stores across the country since 2017. According to a notice Published by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission Thursday, these products have “risks of serious impact and laceration”.

Indeed, when a consumer tries to open the bottles “after food, soft drinks or perishable drinks, such as juice or milk, are stored inside over time”, the lid can eject with force, note the CPSC.
From Thursday’s announcement, Walmart had received three injured consumers’ reports after being struck in the face by these lids when they opened their bottles. And two of these people “underwent permanent vision loss after being struck in the eyes,” added the CPSC.
Consumers are invited to stop using the now recorded Ozark trails – and contact Walmart for a full refund. Buyers can also provide products in their local Walmart store for this compensation.
“The health and safety of our customers are always an absolute priority,” Walmart said in a statement sent to the Associated Press. The company added that it had “entirely cooperated” with the CPSC and the manufacturer of the product recalled “to withdraw it from our stores and inform consumers”
The reminded bottles can also be identified by their model number, 83-662-which does not appear on the product itself, but would appear on the packaging. The stainless steel base is in silver and the lid is a black screw cap in one room. There is also an integrated Ozark Trail logo on the side of the 64 ounce bottle.
