Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe said Newcastle will not “seek the best” in terms of transfer objectives in the middle of a difficult window for the club.
Not only were the Magpies affected by Isak’s desire to leave, but they also missed a certain number of transfer objectives to its competitors, in particular Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitics And James Trafford.
Newcastle also struck a road roadblock in their quest for Wissa after having rejected an offer of 25 million pounds Sterling, although the Brentford striker wants to join the Magpies.
With Callum Wilson Joining West Ham, he just leaves Will Osula Like their alternative to Alexander Isak at No. 9.
“We are looking for the best players we can get,” said Howe. “Whatever our target position, we are looking for the best, so I see all the situations open and available for us.
“I think this is the only way we will arrive where we want to go, that is to say to maximize, and it is the quality compared to the quantity. It has always been. It’s always the way we try to work and the way we try to recruit, and I think we have done it enough.
“It was a difficult summer because we have missed various targets for lots of different reasons, but we are still very competitive and we are still there to try to bring very good players to the club – and that will not change as long as the window closed.”
