According to Israeli media, the Netanyahu war cabinet approves military operations throughout the enclave.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should announce plans to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, the Israeli media reported.
Netanyahu’s decision will see the Israeli army extend its operations throughout the enclave, including the areas where the captives of Hamas take place, I24News, the Jerusalem Post, Channel 12 and Ynet reported on Monday.
“The decision was made,” said Amit Sega, chief political analyst of Channel 12, cited a senior Netanyahu official.
“Hamas will not publish more hostages without total surrender, and we will not abandon ourselves. If we do not act now, the hostages die of hunger and Gaza will remain under the control of Hamas.”
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the reported plans and called on the international community to “intervene urgently to prevent their implementation, whether it is a form of pressure, test balls to assess international reactions, or really serious”.
Netanyahu’s office did not immediately respond to the request for comments from Al Jazeera.
Reports come when Netanyahu should summon her war cabinet on Tuesday to discuss the next stages of the Israeli army in Gaza while his war in the besieged enclave approaches the two -year brand.
Netanyahu faces increasing international pressure to allow more humanitarian aid in Gaza and stop war in the midst of Palestinian deaths due to malnutrition and Israeli attacks.
At least 74 Palestinians, including 36 aid seekers, were killed in Israeli attacks on Monday, according to medical sources in Gaza.
The Israeli leader also faces an increasing internal pressure to guarantee the release of the remaining captives of Hamas in Gaza, after the release of sequences of the prisoners Roma Braslavski and Evyatar David, which is likely.
Netanyahu doubled her war objectives on Monday, in particular by eliminating Hamas and obtaining the release of the remaining captives.
“We must continue to hold together and fight together to achieve all of our war objectives: the defeat of the enemy, the release of our hostages and the assurance that Gaza will no longer be a threat to Israel,” Netanyahu said at the start of a regular cabinet meeting on Monday.
On Monday, Osama Hamdan accused the United States and other Western countries of looking at Israeli atrocities and declared that the government of Netanyahu had “full responsibility” for the life of the captives “because of its stubbornness, the arrogance and escape of the damage to the transfer agreement and the climbing of the war of extermination and starve against our people”.
More than 60,930 Palestinians, including at least 18,430 children, have been killed in Gaza since October 2023, according to the Gaza health authorities.
Forty-nine captives, including 27 who are dead, are still detained by Hamas, according to the Israeli authorities.
