Marco Penge capitalized on the remarkable collapse of Rasmus Hojgaard to win his second title of DP World Tour at the Danish Golf Championship.
Hojgaard seemed ready to break his second victory in this event in three years when he opened a lead of four strokes by the sixth hole.
However, Penge, who sorted out the third and eighth, was in a share of the head after the Danish dropped a seventh shot and double Bogeyey in the ninth.
The Englishman put forward when Hojgaard built on the 10th and extended his advance in two with a brilliant Birdie in the 13th.
Penge left the door ajar with his only Bogey from the day to 16, but instantly responded with a Birdie at the penultimate hole to restore his advantage at two at 15 sous.
Hojgaard has stacked the pressure with a clutch eagle at the last level to draw, but Penge kept his cool to empty his Birdie putt and triumph at Feso Golf Klub.
“I’m playing so well this year,” said Penge. “Returning from my free time, for having saved so early (after that) and to realize what I have accomplished since I won.
“My main goal after winning was not to be complacent and to fall mainly. My team was enormous support for me, my family, all the people really involved.
“It made me continue to look for more and it is incredible. And Rasmus, he is a player, to hit the blow he struck in the last one and to make the eagle and to win it was incredible.”
Ben Schmidt, originally from Rotherham, allowed the 72nd hole to win in solo third at 12 under the suite of a final 68.
Penge had two other reasons to celebrate in Copenhagen after his success saw him exceed the closing swing ranking, winning $ 200,000 (£ 148,000) and entry to the last nine events in the DP World Tour campaign, in addition to claiming the first round of $ 10,000 (£ 7,400) to organize the 64 course in his first round.
