Air Canada to resume flights after the end of the Strike directive

Air Canada said he would resume flights Sunday after a Government directive to end a strike by on -board agents.

The Canadian Industrial Relations Office (CIRB) “ordered Air Canada to resume airline operations and for all Air Canada and Air Canada ons to resume their duties” at 2 p.m., the airline said in a statement.

The directive intervened after the Minister of Jobs Patty Hajdu decided to impose a binding arbitration on Saturday, extending the existing contract until a new agreement is concluded.

More than 10,000 on -board agents have left the post for disputes and disputes after months of negotiations on a new contract.

The strike has turned upside down the travel plans in the world at the height of the summer season, with around 700 suspended daily flights and some 100,000 travelers forced to rush for alternatives or stay there.

“Restarting operations will start immediately, with the first flights this evening, but Air Canada expects it to take several days before its operations come back to normal,” the airline said in its press release on Sunday. “During this process, some flights will be canceled over the next 7 to 10 days until the calendar is stabilized. Air Canada deeply regrets the disadvantage of its customers.”
