At least 13 soldiers killed in a suicide bombardment in northwest Pakistan | News

A suicide bomber struck a vehicle loaded with explosive in an army convoy in the province of Khbyer Pakhtunkhwa, officials said.

More than a dozen soldiers were killed and dozens of people were injured in a suicide attack in northwest Pakistan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said.

The attack on Saturday was carried out on the Khadi market, Mir Ali, North Waziristan, according to a local media, Khyber Chronicles, which cited security sources.

Security officials said the attacker exploded explosives near a vehicle in the bombs elimination unit, killing 13 people.

At least 24 staff members, including 14 civilians, were also injured in the attack, according to the report.

“A suicide bomber struck a vehicle loaded with explosives in a military convoy,” local government officials said in the northern Waziristan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Children among the injured

“The explosion has also caused the roofs of two houses, injuring six children,” a police officer in the district told AFP.

It was one of the deadliest attacks of a day against the security forces in recent months in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

There was no immediate comment from the Pakistani army.

The attack was claimed by the armed group of Hafiz Gul Bahadur, a faction of the Pakistani Taliban, or TPP.

Pakistan has witnessed a strong increase in violence in its regions bordering Afghanistan since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021, Islamabad accusing his Western neighbor to allow his soil to be used for attacks against Pakistan – an assertion that the Taliban denies.

About 290 people, mainly security officials, have been killed in attacks since the start of the year by armed groups fighting the government both in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balutchistan, according to a Tally AFP.
