The Chef Sunderland coach, Regis Le Bris, has signed a new long-term contract to the newly promoted Premier League club.
In a boost to Sunderland before their high -flying return, the Frenchman committed his future at the Stade de la Light until the summer of 2028.
He said: “The connection I have with the staff, the players and the supporters was natural, and we shared many moments together.
“The collective ambition is there to see and now, there is a desire to become stronger. I can feel the energy and the intention of moving forward, and we need it in the next challenges we will face.
“In all parts of the organization, everyone has their own role to play, and we are all aligned.”
The Bris was appointed patron of Black Cats in June 2024 after leaving Lorient.
The 49-year-old man had two years to run on his previous contract, but Sunderland moved to the long-term binding after conducting the club in the promotion during his first campaign at the helm, with a 2-1 victory against Sheffield United in the championship final in May in May marking the club’s return to the Premier League after an absence of eight years.
The director of Sunderland Sporting, Kristjaan Speakman, said: “Like all supporters of Sunderland, I am delighted that we are announcing this contract extension for Regis.
“He brings clarity in the Premier League season, but more importantly, he recognizes his contribution and his continuous commitment to the club.
“Regis has an implacable desire for progression that corresponds to ours and we are impatient to continue our partnership throughout the coming season, while we are progressing with aligned objectives that reflect our shared ambition.”
Sunderland finished fourth in the championship in the last quarter before winning a spectacular victory in the semi-finals against Coventry to seal their place in Wembley, where the winner of Tommy Watson returned the Black Cats to the upper flight.
The Brisne leads Sunderland to its first Premier League campaign since its relegation in 2016/17, and they start against West Ham at the Stade de la Lumière on August 16.
The club has since been occupied during the summer transfer window with eight new signatures arriving on Wearside, notably the former Arsenal midfielder and Bayer Leverkusen, Granite Xhaka.
The new director of football Florent Ghisolfi thinks that Le Bris’s New Deal is an important step with the club’s goal to establish itself in the Premier League.
“The new register contract is a brand of recognition for the exceptional work it has undertaken since its arrival in Sunderland, and more importantly, this reflects our confidence in the future that we build together,” said Ghisolfi.
“Our goal is to establish Sunderland as a Premier League club – not only in the name, but in identity, performance and ambition – and regis is an important part of this vision.
“He shares our desire and we are ready to face the challenges and opportunities to come with conviction and objective.”
