Nearly 60 legislators in the United Kingdom have written to the Foreign Secretary David Lammy this week, calling Israel’s plans for Gaza’s “ethnic cleaning” and demanding that the country immediately recognize Palestine as a state.
The 59 legislators, all of the governor Labor Party, criticized the plans of Israeli Minister Israel Katz to force 2.1 million Palestinians from Gaza in a so-called “humanitarian city” – Compared by certain analysts to a concentration camp – built on the ruins of Rafah.

They urged the Minister of Foreign Affairs to arrest the “operational plan of Israel for crimes against humanity”. Reporting London, Sonia Gallego d’Al Jazeera said that Macron had given calls to officially recognize Palestine as a “additional weight” of the state during her three-day state visit to the United Kingdom this week.

The legislators welcomed calls from the government of labor for a ceasefire, its suspension of arms licenses in Israel, and its sanction Israeli online ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, but said that “despair and gravity” of the situation in Gaza required more action.
“We cannot leave actions in our rear pocket while the situation to which Palestinian civilians reach critical and existential levels,” said the letter, organized by the friends of the work of Palestine and the Middle East, co-chaired by legislators Sarah Owen and Andrew Pakes.
“By not recognizing (Palestine) as a state, we … we are waiting for the status quo to continue and see the erasure and annexation of the Palestinian territory,” he added.
The Times of Israel reported this week that an international conference to resuscitate the two-state solution had been postponed until July 28 to 29 after the plans to keep it last month were derailed by the 12-day Iran-Israeli war.
