Callum Simpson rose twice from the web to win an incredible European victory over Ivan Zucco at the Oakwell stadium in his hometown of Barnsley.
Simpson had to get up in the bridge twice as he became the first European barnsley champion, winning the crown of mid-circles with a 10th round stop.
In real problems from the start, Simpson fought with a demonstration of will, determination and hard work.
In the 10th round, he had Zucco trapped in his own corner. He bombed the Italian previously undefeated three times in a row to finish the fight before a simply delicious crowd in his native football stadium which had experienced each punch throughout a furious fight.
The stadium had broken out while the local hero entered, but was suddenly, if only briefly, amazed while Zucco hammered Simpson in the first seconds of the fight.
The first strikes the Italian landed – a combination of his right hook of Southpaw and the left cross – rocked Simpson and dropped him to the seat of his shorts.
Simpson had made an epic ringtone in front of these enthusiastic sympathizers. If he wondered then how he could lose in front of them, he had to think everything when he was sitting on the canvas of the ring.
His answer was to get up and recharge in Zucco. He unleashed a flamboyant salvo of punches and maintained this assault.
Simpsons have succeeded and he started to shake the Italian. He led him to the ropes and attacked him there.
In the second round, Simpson landed a long forehand and Zucco simply opened his mouth to scream him. The Englishman was signaling it and continued to punch in his enemy.
He kept the south on the ropes and a large uppercut of Simpson fell for his jaw.
In the next round, the roar of the crowd swollen around him while Simpson kept Zucco under pressure, trapping him in a corner.
According to a trembling start, Simpson was fighting in the ascendant. But rushing for Zucco, he put himself square, open for a booming left – the punch of the reverse of Zucco – which dropped him for the second time in the fight.
He got up and the bell rang to finish the third round. Simpson fought furiously, but he took risks and was punished for doing so.
In the next stanza, Simpson pierced in Zucco with a left hook, then a heavy cross, only for the Italian to punch in him. Simpson took him but he still felt power.
Simpson led with a tight left hook. Maneuvering in Zucco behind, he left straight punches.
Zucco typed in his right hook and Simpson fell for a moment, before looking for punches while Zucco was leaned over the strings.
In the sixth round, Zucco held the center of the ring and he launched gunshots, seeking to stem the momentum of Simpson. But finally, the Yorkshireman collapsed further forward.
He kept Zucco on the external fringes of the ring while working with the seventh round, marking the Italian more and more.
The crowd broke out in a huge acclamation when it seemed that Simpson had overthrown Zucco, but the referee pointed out as a shift.
Simpson launched punches in Zucco’s body and exploded to the right in the head of the South. He felt that he was breaking the Italian and stooding, selecting simple strikes.
Zucco swayed out of position and a left hook of Simpson fell it. The local man dodged a left hook in a loop and pressed the pointed zucco.
Simpson had found a rhythm, surrounding zucco, working to strike, with arms in moving freely before cycling again. Simpson roars by slamming large hooks around the Zucco guard.
It would not allow Zucco to escape the 10th round. A massive left uppercut was launched at home. He hammered the Italian to his knees. He got up but there was no relaxation. Another immense uppercut struck him and, in the assault, Zucco collapsed again.
The brave Italian got up at eight. Simpson was waiting for him. He broke Zucco in his corner, bringing him to the canvas. During the third reversal, the Italian corner took out his man from the fight.
He had never lost before.
“I was never going to stop, I train too hard to give in,” said Simpson thereafter. “It would have been easy after being overturned twice during the first four laps to give in, but I have this Grain Yorkshire.
“I was never going to give up.”
