Carlos Alcaraz had told the media that he could “keep his head high” despite his Wimbledon final defeat against Jannik Sinner on Sunday, saying that their rivalry will only improve.
Alcaraz’s offer for a third consecutive title to the All England Club ended with a defeat of 4-6 6-4 6-4 6-4 on Center Court, letting him digest a first final defeat of the Grand Slam during his career, after winning five against five.
“It is always a bad sense of losing matches. It’s a bit worse when you lose in a final,” said Alcaraz at his post-match press conference.
“I am just proud of everything I have done in the past four weeks on the grass in London. I leave Wimbledon, the courtyard, my head very high because I did everything I could.
“I played against someone who played an incredible game. So I’m just a little sad to lose, but the head is very high.”

After the pensions of the great tennis, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray in recent years, and with Novak Djokovic, 38, in winter of his career, the young Duo Alcaraz and Sinner fired at the top of sport.
The two players have now raised eight of the last nine titles of the Grand Chelem, including seven consecutive.
“Whenever we play each other, I think our level is really high. We don’t see a level like this. I don’t see any player playing against each other with the level we play when we face each other,” said Alcaraz.
“This rivalry, it becomes better and better. We play in the final of Grand Chelem, finals of masters and the best tournaments in the world. It will improve.
“I am really grateful for that because it gives me the opportunity to give 100% each training, every day, just to be better. The level I have to maintain and I have to raise if I want to beat Jannik is really high.”

Sinner coach Darren Cahill admitted that even if the Italian has not taken any of his rivals for acquired, he pays additional attention to Alcaraz.
“Jannik is watching more Carlos matches than himself because he is fascinated by the improvements that arrive in his game, and he pushes us as trainers to make sure that he improves as a tennis player,” Cahill told Media.
Sinner, who ended at the end of all Alcaraz events, 24 games at the end of all events and 20 games in Wimbledon, was very satisfied to end his own series of five successive defeats against Spanish.
“When you lose several times against someone, it’s not easy,” said Sinner, who reduced his victory record against Alcaraz to 5-8.

“At the same time, in the past, I felt that I was near. I never pushed myself.
“There is not only Carlos, but everyone. We have a big target on us, so we have to be prepared. Then we will see what is happening in the future.”
