The remarks of the spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi became before the visit of the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs in China – the first since 2020 clashes.
The succession of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama is a “thorn” in China-Indre relations, said the Chinese embassy in New Delhi.
Sunday’s remarks were before the first visit of the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs in China since the Fatal border clashes Between the powers of South Asia in 2020.
“In reality, (the) problem linked to Xizang is a thorn in China-Indre relations and has become a burden for India,” said Yu Jing, spokesperson for the Chinese embassy, published on X, referring to “Xizang”, the Chinese name for Tibet.
Before the celebrations this month for his 90th birthday which attended by Indian Prime Ministers, the Dalai Lama again put China by saying that he had no role in His succession.
The Tibetans believe that the soul of any main Buddhist monk is reincarnated after his death, but China says that the succession will also have to be approved by its leaders.
The Dalai Lama has lived in exile in India since 1959 following a failed uprising against Chinese domination in Tibet.
Indian foreign relations experts say that his presence gives New Delhi a leverage against China. India also houses around 70,000 Tibetans and a Tibetan government in exile.
In his post, the spokesperson Yu, without naming anyone, said that some people from the strategic and university communities in India had made “inappropriate remarks” on the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama.
“As foreign business professionals, they should be fully aware of the sensitivity of Xizang issues,” said Yu. “The reincarnation and succession of Dalai Lama are intrinsically an internal case in China.”
It was noted that some people from the strategic and university communities, including former civil servants, have made inappropriate comments on the reincarnation of Dalai Lama, unlike the public position of the Indian government.

The Minister of Indian parliamentary and minority affairs, Kiren Rijiju, who sat next to the Dalai Lama during his 90th birthday festivities a week ago, said that as a practicing Buddhist, he thinks that only the spiritual leader and his office have the power to decide on his reincarnation.
The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared on July 4, two days before the birthday of Dalai Lama, that New Delhi took no position or does not speak of questions concerning beliefs and practices of faith and religion.
The Minister of External Affairs of India, Jaishankar, will attend a regional security meeting under the Shanghai cooperation organization in Tianjin in northern China on July 15 and will hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines.
It will be one of the highest visits between India and China, because their relations denounced after a deadly border confrontation in 2020 which killed at least 20 Indian soldiers and four Chinese.
