Chris Eubank Jr has already fought with the Mexican superstar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, says his cousin Harlem Eubank.
EUBANK JR, who beat Conor Benn with a unanimous decision in an exhausting battle for average weights in April, envisaged his options, with confirmation of a revenge match against his British rival which is getting closer.
But Canelo was a long -term target for Eubank Jr and Harlem thinks that this massive confrontation should occur in the near future.
“I think he won Canelo’s fight, he is 35 years old, I don’t want to see him go through unpleasant weight cuts, people trying to disadvantage him in the ring,” said Eubank Sky Sports News.
“I want him to be entirely fed, and he won the opportunity to go and fight the best in the world, and this man is Canelo Alvarez.
“He (revenge with Benn) could be on the table before this Canelo fight, but let’s see.
“I think the dance was done, I think he went in the weakest version of himself, a shell of himself in the night, and did the work in a fairly convincing way, so I would like to see him fight Canelo then.”
But Eubank Jr will have to wait until Canelo fills his next super fight, a confrontation with Terence Crawford for the undisputed title of Super-Poits in September.
Whatever his next career move, Harlem remains extremely proud of the difficult victory of Eubank Jr against Benn in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“It is Eubank’s supremacy, that’s what it is, that’s the time,” he said.
“The name is back where it belongs and my uncle and my cousin lacked it high.”
Harlem is preparing to face Jack Catterall in Manchester on July 5, the winner remaining firmly in the running for a world title fired on the Welter weight.
“I am very confident, I have worked all my life for this type of fight and we are here now, we are against one of the best in the world and I am ready to prove that I am up there,” he said.
“I am ready to fight for a world title and I put the work behind the scenes here in this gymnasium for 10-11 years and that is why I work, I am ready.”
Harlem is now enjoying the opportunity to become the last Eubank to win a great British battle.
“I want to fight the best in the world and the best in the world is 147, it is the best division, the hottest division in the world,” he added.
“I am ready to be in this mixture, I am ready to fight the best, I feel good, I feel strong and I grow in the weight, I will be very strong in it on July 5.
“I am ready to bear the name high and leave my brand.”
