A foreign club “weighed an approach” for “incredibly strong” Newcastle United player this summer, according to Sky Sports Journalist Keith Downie.
The Magpies had a summer to forget, with the Saga Alexander Isak which will be looming on them, and many transfer targets moving in other clubs instead.
It was a period that knew life Newcastle supporters, with club legend Alan Shearer Admit that it was a “nightmare” in his column for BBC Sport.
“So far, Newcastle’s pre-season has been a nightmare. There is no other way to describe it. They have had a disastrous transfer window, missing each of their best targets for which they did, and in addition to that, they obtained the situation of Alexander Isak above them while they are preparing for the opening weekend.
“In one way or another, they must solve it, but it will not be easy. Isak clearly wants to leave St James park and join Liverpool, but it cannot be sold if no one replaces it.
Although many accent is on Isak’s maintenance this summer, it now seems that another Newcastle player is the subject of a strong interest in another club.
According to Downie on X,, Monaco “weighed an approach” for the right back of Newcastle Kieran TrippierWith the “very lively” Ligue 1 side to sign it this summer. The Magpies want, however, that he stays, seeing him as a “key player” for Howe.
At 34, Trippier is not quite the strength of yesteryear, but he still has a lot to offer in Newcastle, which is why losing him against Monaco this summer would be a blow.
English can continue to be a good backup option for Tino Livramento, the fighter for minutes, and Eddie Howe love him as a player, Order its character.
“Tripps is an incredibly strong character, as I said on several occasions, he is a transformative signature. Someone who took the group to a totally different level. He was the heart rate of this. So, when he gave us so much, it is our turn to support him and take care of him so that we do.”
I hope the £ 120,000 per week Trippier refuses the potential advances of Monaco and sees his future in Newcastle.
