The Committee has also received relationships on disturbing and groped efforts from DOGE to combine sensitive information held by the SSA, IRS, HHS and other agencies in a single inter-agency master’s database. Improving the way in which federal agencies share data to improve results and customer service is a long -standing and bipartite objective in the congress. However, the information obtained by the Committee indicates that DOGE performs its work in a manner which does not take into account significant considerations of cybersecurity and confidentiality, potentially in violation of the law.
In an apparent attempt to bypass network security checks, the Committee learned that DOGE engineers have tried to create specialized computers for themselves who simultaneously give full access to networks and databases between different agencies. Such a system would present unprecedented operational security risks and would undermine the zero-frust cybersecurity architecture which prevents a violation of an agency from spreading through the government. The information obtained by the Committee also indicates that the persons associated with DOG have assembled backpacks filled with laptops, each having access to different agency systems, which Doge staff use to combine databases which are currently maintained separately by several federal agencies.
