A man that the authorities said intentionally leads a car to a crowd of people Apart from a Los Angeles nightclub last week was accused of 37 chiefs of attempted murder, the Los Angeles County District District said on Tuesday.
Fernando Ramirez, 29, could incur several sentences in life in the event of a conviction, said the District of the County of Los Angeles, Nathan Hochman. In addition to attempted murder, Ramirez is accused of 37 chiefs of assault with a deadly weapon.
Hochman said the incident early on Saturday “could have been catastrophic” and that it was a miracle that no one lost their life.
“When he led this car to this sidewalk, he targeted an entire sea of pedestrians that were in front of him on the sidewalk at 2 am,” said Hochman. “Many of them were at the Taco truck, where they were waiting for Valet where they were waiting to enter the club.”
More than 100 stakeholders rushed to the scene outside the Vermont Hollywood nightclub, the authorities said.
Ramirez, from San Clemente in the County of Orange, south of Los Angeles, was detained without surety and should be brought to justice on Wednesday, said Hochman. It was not clear Tuesday evening if he had a lawyer.
Ramirez is accused of having driven a compact Nissan sedan on the sidewalk of Vermont Avenue, southern on boulevard Santa Monica, before hitting carts that were probably sellers and finally stopped after hitting a luminous post, the police said.
An investigation into what has led to the incident and how it has gone is underway, officials said.
Two sources of application of the law familiar with the situation said that the driver had been expelled from the place for being intoxicated and disruptive.
After crushing in the crowd, the passers -by fired the driver from the vehicle, officials said. Someone on the other side of the street then approached and shot on the back, said the Los Angeles police department.
LAPD chief Jim McDonnell said the shooting was not justified.
“We understand the emotions involved, but when the threat was finished and the suspect no longer actively harmed others, the use of murderous force was both illegal and dangerous for all those present,” said McDonnell.
