It only took Liam Dawson seven bullets in his trial return to recover his first window in eight years, an opportunity he thought not to come.
The 35 -year -old left -handed spinner admitted that he thought that his hopes of a recall of England had disappeared before the summer of the Shoaib Bashir test ended with a finger injury in the third test victory at Lord’s.
Dawson said that the figures from 1 to 45 out of 15 letters, making Yashasvi Jaiswal caught the shift for his first test window in 2,929 days since the rejection of the legend of South Africa, Hashim Amla in Trent Bridge in July 2017.
“I told a few people that the age in which I am, I thought that Test Cricket had disappeared,” said Dawson. “Being back involved is really cool, and I have to try to take advantage every day that I receive.
“I think I’m a better bowler than a few years ago. I was nervous. I hadn’t played for several years. The most important thing for me is that I understood what to expect, while before, I did not do it.
“I hope I will have a few others. It is a counter, I did not do anything special.
“You treat with the nerves a little better you are getting old. It was very fun there today, and we have another big day tomorrow.”
The Hampshire All-Rournder knows many players in the current configuration of England and said that entering the environment was simple.
“I know that a lot of guys, so coming was good, the test of test matches is very different from the domestic cricket,” added Dawson.
“It’s a very relaxed environment. I was told to be just me and do what I did in red ball cricket. I’m just trying to do a job for the team.”
Dawson also controlled the fields he wanted to compete against the players of India and revealed that he had spoken to the captain of England Ben Stokes during training on his plans as well as the spin-bowling coach in England, Jeetan Patel.
“I had a conversation with him a few days of training, and he said to try to be intelligent in the way I use them.
“I was trying to do what I did in the past three or four years in domestic cricket and bring it.
“You always need someone (a coach) to talk to, but I’m at the age when I’m not going to change my game massively, I have to stay very simple.
“But it’s good to chat with soothing (Jeetan Patel) and launch some ideas, but from a technical point, I probably can’t change a lot at the age in which I am now.”
Sky Sports Cricket’s Michael Atherton thinks that Dawson “deserves” his call in England, with him being a coherent artist for the Hampshire. In addition to 21 counters in the county championship so far this season, it also provides more firepower to the stick in order with a strike rate of 42.
“He adds the depth of striker and has a lot of wisdom and knowledge with his rotation of the left arm,” said Atherton.
“Sometimes the criticism of this team from England is that it is more difficult to enter the team than to get out of the team.
“You do not want a feeling where players outside feel that they cannot enter, and players inside have the impression that they will not be abandoned.
“There must be a balance; you must be a certain level of security there, and it is a good balance to obtain.”
