People who were fortunate to be at Lord on Saturday were treated to a day of test cricket – and a good “ Logery ” in England in the last minutes.
While Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett were heading for the fold for the start of the second round of their team, they knew they would face a maximum of two overs before the stumps.
They were determined to make him, with Crawley, using cheeky delay tactics to make sure that it was, buffoonery that left Bouilloning India.
He fell twice from the third delivery of Jasprit Bumrah, suggesting the second time that he had been distracted by something behind the designer’s arm.
Picked a look of perplexity / frustration of the bowling player, an angry pantyy cord and a diatriber charged with an Indian skipper Shubman Gill. Mohammed Siraj also had an chirping. He loves this kind of thing.
But Crawley was not finished. After defending the fourth Bumrah ball, the England’s striker removed his glove, tightened his “injured” hand and made a gesture so that the physio lights up.
Gill applauds sarcastically before exchanging heated words with Crawley and Duckett.
Then, after the last ball of the too whistled after the exterior edge of Crawley – it was an absolute jaffa of Bumrah – the opener was immediately off, probably to obtain an additional treatment …
“Zak will be evaluated overnight and I hope it will go well to continue tomorrow,” was delivered to the update of England, the coaching consultant, delivered impassibly.
“I do not know what India complained about Gill elongated and obtained a massage yesterday,” added Southee, referring to one of the multiple delays for destroying this test, many of which because of the teams requiring the ball changes.
But the complaint of India added to the theater of a game magnificently installed by the teams marking 387 each in the first rounds – and a series of five games settled beautifully by the level of drawing of the tourists at 1-1 after the victory of 336 points last week at Edgbaston.
“Box-office stuff at Lord’s. A hot day heated a little towards the end,” was Sky Sports Cricket’s The hot catch of Nasser Hussain.
Dinesh Karthik – who had made his way through the fiery fence steps during his comments – added: “Exactly what you want to see. Aggression, passion, the two teams wanting to really win and go hard against each other.”
But did something cross the line? Not according to Michael Atherton.
“There was cat-cat but that didn’t bother me. It was a red blood competition and you have to give players a little latitude.
“I loved looking at it and I thought it was a fantastic end for a day of pinching. Brilliant drama, big theater.”
The day violated in a way of the other, with the direct blow of Ben Stokes to exhaust Rishabh Pant at the blow of lunch, then his burning ball to remove the Nitish Kumar Reddy after tea by giving an elevator.
The 10th KL Rahul test and the third fifty consequence of Ravira Jadeja did the same for India.
Chris Woakes was denied the counter of India Tailender Akash Deep twice in three bullets by successful LBW reviews, with Deep then at a crier of a handmade of Harry Brook in Slip, off the Brydon Carse bowling.
Jofra Archer has once again enlightened Lord with his fastest fate for England in a test, while Stokes overthrew a passage of seven lungs before being told in the head coach Brendon McCullum. Stokes did what he had been told, otherwise what he wanted.
Crawley’s bizarre time time then crowned things. Its two deep fine legs of Bumrah mean that England has its nose at the front before the fourth day. Which side, however, will be happier?
Atherton added: “I think I might prefer to be in the camp in India – due to the difficulty of hitting in the third rounds and because they have Bumrah and two spinners on dry and bearing ground.
“England must see the first hour (Sunday) when Bumrah arrives hard for five or six overs. They cannot take liberties against him. If they pass through it, they have strikers to push the game.
“A test match can be a slow burner, but things can happen quickly.” Or slowly when Crawley has its way.
