Dominic Calvert-Lewin announced that he was leaving Everton.
The striker, who joined the Toffees of Sheffield United in 2016, confirmed his release on social networks and will become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of June.
He made 273 appearances for Everton in all competitions, scoring 71 goals and won 11 caps in England, filling four times for his country during his charm on the Merseyside.
However, injuries were a problem and last season saw Calvert-Lewin endure a difficult campaign, scoring three goals in 26 league appearances and disappeared over three months between January and May due to an injury.
Calvert-Lewin revealed in his goodbye message to the supporters of Everton that he wanted a “new challenge”.
He wrote: “To Everton Football Club and to the Evertonians.
“After nine remarkable years in this club, I made the incredibly difficult decision, with my family, to start a new chapter in my career.
“It is not something that I chose lightly. Everton has been my house since the age of 19. This is the place that saw the potential in me, challenged me to grow and shaped me both as a footballer and as a man.
“Whether the times were good or hard, your unwavering support has never failed. Celebrating the objectives at Goodison Park, feeling this roar, is an experience that I will carry with me forever.
“This choice to move on was not just about me, it was a decision that my family and I spent a lot of time considering together.
“We think it’s a good time to look for a new challenge and continue to grow, but that does not damage the link I will always have with Everton.
“I am deeply proud of what we have shared, fighting for this club when it counted the most, marking major objectives in crucial moments, carrying the shirt with commitment and pride.
“I hope I am leaving with your respect, knowing that I was always trying to maintain the values of this big club.”
