Forest fires forced a compulsory evacuation on Sunday in a county of North Carolina which is still recovering from Hurricane Heleneand the governor of South Carolina declared an emergency in response to a Cultivate fires In this state. The Department of Public Security of North Carolina announced a compulsory evacuation from 8:20 p.m. Saturday for parts of the County Polk in the west of North Carolina at around 80 miles (129 kilometers) west of Charlotte.
“Visibility in the area will be reduced and the outflow roads can be blocked; if you do not leave now, you could be trapped, injured or killed,” said the agency in an article on social networks.
A refuge had been created in Columbus, in North Carolina.
There were three fires active in the county of Polk, with a covering 1.9 square miles (5 square kilometers) and another spread over 2.8 square miles (7.3 square kilometers) without confinement Sunday afternoon. County spokesperson Kellie Cannon said that a house was lost in the largest of two fires.
A third fire that had burned around 199 acres (81 hectares) with 50% confinement had destroyed three houses. And the previous evacuation order associated with this fire had been lifted, said Cannon.

Emergency officials declared that they had evacuated two campsite in the park. Eighteen buildings were near the fire, but the flames moved away from them and no structure had been evacuated.
