George Williams says he will be “100%” will end the season with Warrington Wolves – but is not sure that he will still be at the club in 2026 in the middle of the LNR interest.
Warrington and the English skipper Williams previously played in the Australian system with Canberra Raiders in 2020 and 2021 and were linked to a return.
The contract of the former player with Wolves expires at the end of next season and he must decide whether a second pass in the southern hemisphere is “an itch that he wants to scratch”.
Talk to Sky Sports After the victory of Warrington 24-10 at home against the Hull FC on Saturday, Williams said: “There were a lot of discussions during the week, but there is nothing major.
“There is a little interest (from the LNR) and I would be stupid not to listen to it – at 30, it’s now or never. I have to think if it is a itch that I want to scratch
“Warrington was brilliant and I was respectful to them and what will be, there will be a lot of logistics to settle but at the minute when I am open -minded.
“I’m not too sure (if I will be here next season). I’m attached to the team, I’m the club’s captain. I’m going to finish 100% this season.”
Warrington’s victory over Hull occurred after a series of four defeats in five which seriously established their dam ambitions, although the triumph on Saturday means that the wire is only three points of the top six.
Williams added: “Our goals from the start of the season have probably decreased now.
“We did not have a big series of matches, but our goal is the top six. We have to win most of our remaining matches.”
