Harvey Elliott will be desperate to bring down the curtain in style on his career in England U21 by beating Germany during the final of the European championship on Saturday, although another stellar exhibition for young Lions only ends up obscuring his future Liverpool.
The Reds attacking midfielder produced a performance player performance, including two catchy goals in the second half, to help England beat the Netherlands in Wednesday.
“The Liverpool player was part of the team in 2023, but he is a star of it,” wrote Sky Sports’ Adam Bate at the Tehelne pole. “The best player on the field and the scorer of the two goals in England.”
This extremely mature display in Bratislava gave the opportunity at 22, with Charlie Cresswell, to make his consecutive titles in Euro with the victory on the Arch-Rival Germany, which has ahead of Lee Carsley’s 2-1 side when they met in the group’s phase.
And it would be a way to put an end to his impressive U21 trip which made 27 international, with 13 goals and six assists since Carlsey made his debut at 18 in 2022.
“Harvey has been exceptional,” Carsley of Elliott’s performance in Slovakia until now. “He is one of the many who got up. They develop as a team and it’s just a shame that we only have a match because I think this team is exceptional.”
Elliott did not come as a late substitute when England beat Spain 1-0 to win the euros two years ago, so he will pray to the modified knee caused by his sliding celebration for his first goal against the Dutch is no matter.
“I don’t know what I did to my knee, but it hurts,” he said after the match. “I hope it’s nothing too silly. It was a silly decision on my part, but it lived in the moment. You do these things.”
If this coup of money was to govern Elliott of the final on Saturday, however, it would be ironic since his career in Liverpool has so far been a case of a judgment often interrupted by setbacks of premature injuries.
Some people may forget, but Elliott arrived in Anfield as a 16 -year -old young person in the face of 16 years following the Reds’ victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2019 Champions League final, but only made 94 appearances in the Premier League during the six seasons since.
After appearing that twice in the league during his first year and a half to the club, Jurgen Klopp sent Elliott on loan to Blackburn Rovers in January 2021, where he shone in the championship.
So much so that the manager of Liverpool at the time brought the midfielder to Ewood Park’s shaggy hair to be part of his first team, rewarding a new long -term agreement in July 2021.
However, in September, Elliott underwent a horrible dislocation of the ankle to Elland Road who put it aside until February 2022, although in fact, it was his campaign that took place there.
And it was a similar story last season when he caught the eye of head coach Arne Slot as No. 10 in the club’s pre-season tour in the United States, he then fractured his foot during his studies with the U21 in September.
Elliott returned to action at the end of November, but at that time of the season, Liverpool purred and Slot had already made his favorite starting program nail, then restricting him to only 18 high-flying appearances while the Reds were walking for the title.
The other reason for the limited projections of the Elliott club since 2019 is, of course, the presence of a certain Mohamed Salah in the departure XI of Liverpool, the attacker of Egypt not only being used on the same right side of the attack of the Reds which he favors, but he was also virtual still present at that time.
Elliott can also operate in role no 10, but Slot has splashed which could be a British record of 116 million pounds sterling to bring the German playmaker Florian Wirtz to Anfield, so that the road in the team also seems blocked.
All this undoubtedly bubbed in his mind when Elliott questioned his red future at the beginning of euros, with people like Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Bayer Leverkusen would have all held the player who has a contract until 2027 in Anfield.
“I don’t really want to lose years in my career because it’s a short career,” he told journalists during the Slovakian tournament.
“You don’t know what’s going to happen. I have to think. I want to improve myself and be the best possible version of myself. If it will go elsewhere, then it’s a decision that I will have to take.”
But with Elliott having undoubtedly shown everyone the best possible version of himself in Slovakia last month, he may have inadvertently accelerated the end of his Liverpool career by putting themselves at the center of the shop of the shop of the shop when the contenders are preparing to test the determination of the champions to keep it this summer.
