President Trump praises the Israeli leader as a “warrior”, said that the United States will be the one who “saves Bibi Netanyahu” in the middle of the corruption trial.
US President Donald Trump called on Israel to cancel the corruption Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, or forgive him, describing the case against the Israeli chief as a “witch hunt”.
Trump launched the call on Wednesday on behalf of his Close the Israeliwhich was charged in 2019 in Israel for corruption, fraud and violation of trust.
Netanyahu’s trial began in 2020 and includes three criminal cases. He denied allegations and pleaded not guilty.
“The Bibi Netanyahu trial should be canceled, immediately, or a forgiveness given to a great hero, who has done so much for the state (of Israel),” wrote Trump on his social platform of truth using the nickname of the Israeli leader, adding that he had learned that Netanyahu should appear in court on Monday.
“Such a witch hunt, for a man who has given so much, is unthinkable for me,” added Trump.
The Israeli media reported that the Netanyahu’s counter-interrogation began on June 3 in a Tel Aviv court and was to take about a year.
Israeli president Isaac Herzog has the power to forgive Netanyahu, but was cited by the Israeli media saying that a forgiveness is “not currently on the table”.
Herzog also said that “no request from this type had been made,” said reports.
Trump also said in his article: “It was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it will be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu.”
