Experts claim that Iran attacks are unlikely to lead to a change of diet. The federal reserve will decide to change interest rates or keep them the same. And the new album of pop star Sabrina Carpenter Sparks examination and debate.
Here’s what you need to know today.
President Donald Trump is considering options, including a possible American strike on Iran, said several current and former officials after meeting his national security team yesterday in the White House situation room to discuss the conflict between Israel and Iran. Trump also called on Iran to make himself unconditionally and seemed to be solidarity with Israel in articles on social networks / “We now have a complete and total control of the sky on Iran,” said, referring to the United States and Israel.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the assault on his country could trigger the collapse of the Iranian regime and open the door to a popular uprising. But researchers who study Iran, as well as former American and Israeli officials, say that the scenario is unlikely.
There are a few factors:
→ First, Iranian adversaries of the regime have mixed reactions to Israeli strikes. Given the country’s bitter experience with foreign interference, distrust of external powers is omnipresent. Several days in the conflict, “we still see no sign of a popular uprising against the government,” said an expert. Another noted that “Iranians are very well understood as in wanting their government … but they are also fiercely nationalist”.
→ Although a popular uprising is unlikely, “Iran may witness an elite coup,” a partner at London Chatham House said. The Israeli assault revealed generalized vulnerabilities in Iran’s security and military establishment, which could fuel power struggles and possible defections. A coup d’etat of the regime could produce an even more authoritarian result, experts said.
Anyway, the Iranian government is struggling to deal with attacks. Even if the attack on Israel does not overthrow the regime, this could inflict permanent damage.
The federal reserve is expected to leave the interest rates unchanged at its meeting today while it continues to assess the impact of Trump prices and focus on reducing inflation. If this is the case, the ad will probably not be well with Trump, who called for lower rates and said there is no inflation. But retail expenses are decreasing and the deployment of prices outside the president left companies and consumers in limbo.
The Fed also has an eye on the continuous signs that the labor market slows down. Last week, unemployment insurance deposits reached a little less than 2 million, the most since November 2021, and the hiring rates remain at lows which are not seen in more than a decade. Read the full story here.
The New York controller and candidate for the town hall, Brad Lander, was released a few hours after his arrest before an immigration court yesterday.
Lander – who was at the Federal Palace of Justice with his wife to serve defendants of the accused before the immigration court – was “led by masked agents” and owned by ice after “escorted an accused” outside the court, said the press secretary of Lander. The Ministry of Internal Security said that they had arrested Lander to “have attacked the application of laws and hinder a federal officer”. But Lander said after his release that he had not attacked the application of laws and criticized the Trump administration. “We are not going to let Donald Trump destroy the rule of law, refuse people a regular procedure and transform our country into something that does not respect its obligation under international law,” he said.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul said after the Lander’s release that all accusation against Lander was abandoned “to my knowledge” and that he “comes out of a free man”. Read the full story here.
The new single of Sabrina Carpenter “Manchild” is a success, making his debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. But unlike the song, the cover photo of her next album, “Man’s Best Friend” Gets mixed criticism.
Online discussions on the cover, which shows Carpenter on all fours while someone just out of the frame pulls their hair like a leash, dominated platforms like Reddit, Tiktok, X and Instagram since its revelation. Some call it a harmless satire, and others claim that the image is regressive for women – even to the limit of glorifying domestic violence. I wanted to explore not only why the album cover struck such a nerve, and if female artists could play with concepts like male gaze without strengthening traditional gender roles. – Kalhan RogenblattInternet Culture Reporter
