Arsenal made sure that Liverpool could not win the title of the Premier League on Sunday when they crossed a 4-0 victory at the 10 Ipswich player, whose relegation is almost assured.
Mikel Arteta appointed eight of the team who beat Real Madrid in Bernabeu on Wednesday evening, including a first League departure for Bukayo Saka since December 21. And the Gunners scored two goals on the side of Saka in the first 28 minutes.
For the first, the Reduction of Saka of the right was discussed by Martin Odegaard at Leandro Trossard, who explained at his home. The second was almost identical that Mikel Merino made another delivery to Gabriel Martinelli, who could not miss a few meters.
It became easier for Arsenal, because Leif Davis raked the Achilles of Saka to receive a right red card from Chris Kavanagh, with Var with the call.
Saka was then hooked with each touch by the fans of Ipswich – but the Arsenal winger ended a hectic first half by missing three large chances inside the box. He was then removed before the time and received treatment on the same leg as Davis challenged.
“I didn’t see the tackle, it was pretty fast,” Arteta told Sky Sports after the match. “This is a good decision of the referee. He suffers a little but fortunately, this is nothing too serious.”
The two teams played the second half at an almost promech rate, although Arsenal raised the place from which the third goal. The Gunners failed by Declan Rice and Odegaard, the first Trossard sliding who found the net for his second.
After Oodegaard hit the post and the chronometer checked the time to stop, the substitute for Arsenal Ethan Nwaneri came out of the bench to score the fourth and last goal via a double deviation.
The two goals in the second half summed up the lack of motivation of Ipswich and the harsh reality that they are now confronted. Wolves’ victory at Manchester United means that they are now 15 points of security with only 15 points capable of being won, with a difference in goals worse than the West Ham, the 17th.
Arsenal, on the other hand, is now 10 points behind the leaders of the Premier League Liverpool, who can no longer win the title until Wednesday evening at the earliest.
Sam Sports’ Sam Blitz:
Bukayo Saka started, Thomas Partey was on the bench. Mikel Arteta insisted that his team selection had nothing to do with PSG, but it is a model for such a huge game for the Gunners.
Party’s suspension for the semi -final of the Champions League was the only negative note in the conquest of Real Madrid – and this programming hinted at how Arsenal will approach this huge meeting of the last four on April 29.
When Arsenal beat PSG 2-0 in October, they played a 4-4-2 training with Leandro Trossard in Kai Havertz partnership. Trossard played the same role in this match against Ipswich – with Mikel Merino and Martin Odegaard running in the other role before – and the Belgian played with two goals.
But it was not only Trossard, the four arsenal fronts strutted their belongings. Merino’s film Slick for the goal of Gabriel Martinelli was his ninth goal in 13 games since his demonstration in an attacker.
The system also suited Saka and Odegaard. The two players have created five chances each – the maximum of anyone on the field.
“Part of the room, the way we connected with each other, the speed of the ball, positioning and understanding was exceptional,” said Mikel Arteta full -time.
The four arsenal fronts in this 4-4-2 configuration were too much for Ipswich. The two questions are: will it be used to face PSG-and can it win it again?
Arsenal director Mikel Arteta in Sky Sports:
“It was a perfect week!
“Really satisfied with the performance, in particular the way we started in 11 against 11. The first 35 minutes were exceptional – we marked two but we could have had three or four. After the match changed with the sending, we controlled the game. We are missing a little threat, but we have always scored two good goals. We have shot players – a good afternoon.
“Some of them could not start the game. Ben White did not play 90 minutes for a while, the same with Alex Zinchenko, so they have performed very well. Some positive points to take game.
“There are still a lot to play, we will always have to do a lot. We may have to delay another week (title) to Liverpool. This is what we have to try to do.
“We have to maintain the standards on Wednesday, we will have another difficult match against Palace at home. The best preparation, the best way to be in good shape and be in good confidence and the team is to continue playing and winning the match.”
The head coach of Ipswich Kieran McKenna in Sky Sports:
“A difficult afternoon, two different games really. The first half hour was really difficult, Arsenal played very well. We were at full speed to try to compete with them, we had a few moments but their quality and their execution were better than ours.
“After the red card and reached half-time, I thought that the players had succeeded very well in the second half. The game is almost finished, so you have to show the right values. We were disappointed to concede in two short shorts because we did very well to limit them from the open game.
“We had a few moments at the other end, you have to score and you only get one or two chances and you need it to find the corner. The opponent was too strong today when he was 11 V 11, with 10 men, it was almost impossible.
“They are one of the best world teams with the best individuals. You look at the right hand and White, Saka and Odegaard have been working together for years. We are in a different category. It is really difficult, they have done better than us and showed their quality.”
On Davis’ red card: “I don’t think it’s malicious. Knowing Leif, I don’t think he has it in him and I work with him for three seasons. I saw the replay, he caught him high. I don’t think there is a bad intention to try to injure an opponent, but the referee gave him, but we have to go.”
