The Israeli army has intensified attacks on Gaza City as part of its enlarged operations aimed at grasping the last large population center of the enclave, forcing tens of thousands of hungry Palestinians to flee.
The districts of Gaza City of Zeitoun, Sabra, Remal and Tuffah have particularly brought the weight of Israeli bombing in recent days as spokesperson for the United Nations Bureau for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the plans of Israel to force the Palestinians to the south of Gaza would increase their suffering.
Thousands of families fled Zeitoun, when days of continuous strikes have left the district devastated. At least seven people were killed on Sunday when an Israeli air strike hit the Arabic Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City.
Also Sunday, the Israeli army said Tents and equipment to erect shelters will be provided to the Palestinians who have been moved several times in 22 months of war, which was called a act of genocide by several rights organizations.
Hind Khoudary of Al Jazeera, reporting from Deir El-Balah, in the center of Gaza, said that the fire and artillery air raids forced many of their homes.
“The Zeitoun district is a very densely populated area, which houses many families, including those who have sheltered there.
Last week, Israel announced its intention to penetrate more deep into the city of Gaza and to withdraw its residents in the south, a decision which aroused international condemnation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for War Crimes, said civilians would be transferred to “safe areas” even if these areas have also been bombed on several occasions.
Almost 90% of the 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza remain moved, and an overwhelming number of them are now confronted with famine. At least seven other Palestinians died from famine in Gaza in 24 hours, the Gaza Ministry of Health said on Sunday, which increased the number of war -related deaths of the war to 258, including 110 children, following the headquarters of the Enclave in Israel.
On Sunday, Israel killed at least at least 57 Palestinians, 38 of whom help the applicants, taking the total number of Palestinians killed since the start of the war in October 2023 at almost 62,000.
Hamas has denounced the plan of Israel to set up tents in the south as a cover of mass movement.
The group said in a press release that the measure was equivalent to a “new wave of genocide and displacement” and described it as a “flagrant deception intended to cover a brutal crime that the occupation forces are preparing to execute”.
There was an atmosphere of despair in Gaza after the last order of forced displacement of Israel, Maram Humaid, the online correspondent of Al Jazeera de Gaza, published on X.
“There are no words to describe what the people of Gaza feel right now. Fear, helplessness and pain fill everyone while they are facing a new wave of travel and an Israeli field operation,” she posted.
“The WhatsApp groups of family and friends are full of silent cries and sorrow. God knows that people have suffered enough. Our minds are almost paralyzed to think. “
The displaced and desperate Palestinians rush for remains of food while they are facing more bombardment of Israeli forces.
The UN says that one in five children in Gaza is malnourished, because tens of thousands are based on charities, whose small food parts can be their only meal of the day.
“I came at 6 am in the charity to get food for my children, and if I don’t have any more now, I have to come back in the evening for another chance,” said Zeinab Nabahan, moved from the Jabalia refugee camp in Al Jazeera.
“My children are starving on small amounts of lenses or rice. My children did not have bread or breakfast. They were waiting for me to go with everything I can get charitable cuisine. ”
Another resident, Tayayer Naim, told Al Jazeera that “if it was not for the kitchens of God and charity”, he would not have survived. “We come here at 8 am and suffer to obtain lenses or rice. We suffer a lot, and we leave at noon and walk for about a kilometer. ”
On Sunday, the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) warned that Gaza was facing an “artificial famine” and urged a return to a distribution system led by the United Nations.
“We are very, very close to losing our collective humanity,” said Juliette Touma, agency communications director, in an article on X.
She said that the crisis had been fueled by “deliberate attempts to replace the humanitarian system not coordinated by the” GHF “motivated by political motivation”.
She warned the alternative system promoted by Israel and the United States “brings dehumanization, chaos and death” and stressed: “We must return to a unified coordination and distribution system not directed by an international humanitarian law. Abomination must end. “
The World Food Program (WFP) says that despite its teams “doing everything” to provide food assistance to Gaza, current supplies only meet 47% of the planned objective.
According to the United Nations agency, around 500,000 people are now on the “famine edge” and that only a cease-fire would allow food assistance at the level of the required levels.
The government’s media office in Gaza said that Israel deliberately fell asleep by blocking essential products, including baby preparation, nutritional supplements, meat, fish, dairy products and frozen fruits and vegetables.
In a statement on Telegram, he said that Israel implemented “a systematic policy of engineering and slowdown of more than 2.4 million people in Gaza, including more than 1.2 million Palestinian children, in a complete crime of genocide”.
He warned that more than 40,000 infants are faced with severe malnutrition while at least 100,000 other children and patients are in a similar condition.
Amjad Shawa, director of the Palestinian NGO network in Gaza City, told Al Jazeera that aid workers struggled to react while resources collapse.
We are trying to do our best. We are … part of this social fabric. We are linked to people here, and we stay with them while Israel threatens to apply their plans to force Gaza City by force and destroy the rest of Gaza. There are 1.1 million people here, most of them elderly, women, children and people with disabilities, “said Shawa.
He said workers have continued to provide limited meals, medical care and studies, but warned that “the humanitarian system collapses” while Israel strikes aid facilities and restricts supplies.
