Newcastle agreed with Aston Villa for Jacob Ramsey.
The Magpies will pay 43 million pounds sterling for the midfielder; 39 M £ plus 4 million pounds sterling in additional modules.
Ramsey, a product from Villa’s Academy, will undergo a medical on Thursday evening.
Villa is looking to sell a player to help his financial situation (FFP) and a sale of Ramsey would represent a pure profit.
The 24 -year -old midfielder had two years in his current agreement and was the subject of transfer speculation this summer. The villa bosses wanted to protect the value of the player by offering him increased conditions.
Villa also had the interest in Ollie Watkins And John McGinn but consider these players not to sell.
Analysis by Adam Bate of Sky Sports:
Ramsey remains a popular player in Aston Villa with club supporters, the heir to Jack Grenish at some point. Although wounds have hampered its development, Unai Emery continued to value what he can bring to the team.
Even if he represents the pure profit for the villa in terms of PSR, Emery pushed to keep Ramsey at the club when Tottenham and Newcastle were interested in signing it in the January 2024 transfer window, highlighting its potential to improve.
“Jacob Ramsey is a very important player,” said Emery. “He grew up here at the Academy and his progression clearly improves. His level increases a lot. He is a great potential player in Aston Villa, England. I want to keep it here, 100%.”
Ramsey was 22 years old at the time, but is 24 years old now and, according to the admission of the player, the progression was not as impressive as we hoped. The most important figures – a goal and five assists in the Premier League last season – were not catchy but the potential remains.
A statistic that deserves to be considered is that Ramsey ranked second just ahead of Kevin de Bruyne in terms of availability to collect the ball between the lines. The following two players on this particular list of last season’s Premier League were Phil Foden and Cole Palmer.
He suggests the intelligent movement of Ramsey and his capable of ghosts in space, finding positions in the pocket from which his ball transport capacity can shine. His production suggests that his teammates did not find it enough and when they did, he did not do enough.
But there is clearly a lot to work. Eddie Howe and Newcastle have the right to feel excited that a player arrives in his peak years with the potential to flourish in the coming seasons. And there are still many at Villa Park who would agree with this.
