Jake Paul has Anthony Joshua in his views after defeating the former average weight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr with a unanimous decision.
Paul (12-1, 7 KB) seemed to take the greatest risk of his unique boxing career by facing his most accomplished opponent in Chavez (54-7-2) and by doing it in front of an ardently pro-chavez crowd in southern California.
The Mexican also had his famous father shouting furiously at the edge of the ring, but Paul dominated the first laps, then maintained to survive a rally of the end of the round.
The boxer who became youtuber jumped on the strings to celebrate after absorbing several gusts in the 10th and last round, the judges marking him 99-91, 98-92 and 97-93 in his favor.
Paul described his performance as “flawless”, before claiming that a “crazy” fight against the double world heavyweight champion Joshua “looked very likely” for 2026.
Speaking during his press conference after the fighting, Paul said: “I’m certainly not a heavyweight, but I’m still going to take up the challenge. You watch Deontay Wilder; he beat these guys weighing 215 pounds, he is like 6 feet 6 inches or something, but everything is possible.
“Anthony Joshua is a crazy fight, but I want this challenge.
“We went back and forth. He wants to get there. He called me and he seems very likely for next year.”
CHAVEVE shot Paul after the fight.
“It is strong, a good boxer (for) the first three, four laps,” he said. “After that, I felt that he was tired. I don’t think he’s ready for champions, but he’s a good fighter.
“I thought I had lost the first five laps, so I tried to win the last laps.”
Chavez, who had fought only once since 2021, won the WBC’s average weight title in 2011 and defended it three times but failed to maximize the potential of his father’s genetics during his career.
He is always the most credible boxer from afar to share the ring with Paul, who is now making 13 fights in his lucrative combat career.
Earlier, the former 43 -year -old UFC star Holly Holm came from a 12 -year absence from the boxing ring to previously dominate Yolanda Guadalupe Vega Ochoa, Yolanda Guadalupe.
