Joe Root rejected David Warner’s mind games, calling for the recent criticism of the Australian opener “all part of the pleasure” before the Ashes of this winter tour.
Warner recently said about Root, who this summer has become the second biggest cricket scorer, but has not yet scored a hundred in Australia: “Josh Hazlewood tends to have a lot of number. He will have to remove the surfboard from his front leg.”
Warner retired from the international cricket last year, but will fight Root as a time when his London spirit will face Lord Trent Rockets Thursday – Live Sky Sports Cricket From 6 p.m. (the game starts 6:30 p.m.).
Asked during a media call if he had laughed, Root said, “Just. I can’t have control over the way people see the game or speak in an interview.
“Nothing new, that is to say? You know that there will be scenarios and people who want to wave a great series. Not really changes anything.
“It is sort of out of course for me. What can I do about it? Just make sure that this is not a subject of discussion in six or 100 days.
“When you go out, you have to try to have an impact on the game and help your team take a good start. Business as usual as far as I am concerned.
“I suppose that all is part of the pleasure. We will see what is happening there (with Warner at Lord). It is not really in my nature to become too verbal.”
Root’s insatiable appetite for the rating points shows no slowdown – 22 cents marked during his last 61 tests – with only the Grand Sachin Sentulkar Indian and his 13,543 tests of testing in front of him among the great strikers of all time.
Root is currently 2,378 ends in second position, although the former captain of England has admitted that addressing his bad record in Australia is a priority of SA.
“The thing that stands out is that I wanted it too much these last times,” said Root, before his fourth ASHES tour below. “It moved me away from what was important.
“Obviously, the latest tours, there have been many other things to face, a lot of distractions.
“This time, I just want to take advantage of the visit for what it is. It’s a beautiful country, a great place to go cricket.
“It will be hostile, everything you expect and you want from a series outside. This is something you need to savor.
“Going there with 150 test games to my credit, I think I couldn’t be more ready for this.”
Currently, Root throws himself fully into the hundred, in which the Rockets won two victories in two to start the male tournament, while the mind has a three victory.
Joe Root and David Warner compete in The Hundred Thursday while the Root’s Trent Rockets face the spirit of London de Warner at Lord’s, Live on Sky Sports Cricket from 6 p.m. (The game starts at 6.30 p.m.).
