Jofra Archer is likely to play in one of the next consecutive tests of England against India, confirmed the general manager of the ECB of male cricket Rob Key in Sky Sports News.
Fast Bowler Archer is not presented in a test match since February 2021 due to shoulder and back injuries, but is in the team for the second match of the series against India in Edgbaston from July 2With the third match to follow in Lord’s from July 10.
Sky Sports’ Nasser Hussain said to choose the 30 -year -old at Birmingham from Wednesday would be a “bet” After playing his first red match in four years for Sussex against Durham in the county championship, the match ended on Wednesday.
But Key is confident that Acher is ready to regain his test career immediately.
He said about the seam launcher: “I imagine (that he will play one of the next two tests). As I’m here now, that’s it, but who knows?
“He could play the first ball of the test (Edgbaston). All the options are available.
“The quantity of work that Jofra has devoted during the last six months almost … There is a point where your charges (of bowling) are there because of the construction you have done.
“We must be cautious with all our quisors, but if you did not want the quarrers to be injured, you would never play them.
“This is not what it is about. It is about bringing your tailors out as much as possible so that they can have an impact on cricket games.”
If he is not selected to Edgbaston – England generally appoints their team two days from a match – Archer could play in the last stages of the next Sussex championship match at home in Warwickshire, which takes place from Sunday to Wednesday in Hove.
Key added: “There is a chance that he can play in the championship if we think it is the best thing or if it may only be EDGbaston, do it, it’s the best.”
On the return of the Red Ball of Archer for Sussex, in which he took 1 to 32 out of 18 Overs, pinning Durham Emilio Gay Lbw’s striker, Key said: “It was a question of being able to hit his straps and could get up at a decent rate, which we had felt.
“Jofra is such a talent and was directly on money.
“You need a lot of different things to be a world class launcher and he has them all – rhythm, point of liberation, competence, precision.”
