England has appointed an unchanged team for the second test against India in Edgbaston after the quick launcher Jofra Archer missed training due to a family emergency.
The 30 -year -old is expected to join the team Tuesday in preparation for the second test in Edgbaston while England is trying to strengthen their grip in the five game series, but Captain Ben Stokes will take a side without archeur in combat.
Archer was called to the England team after the team won an exciting five -counters at the opening of the series in Headingley last week.
Archer has not played test cricket since February 2021 and played his first red ball game after four years in the Sussex County Championship match against Durham in Chester-Le-Street last week.
Whenever his test return occurs, his compatriot England Chris Woakes is delighted to bring Archer back to the team and think that his best days are still ahead of him.
He said: “Briller for Jof, brilliant for us as a team. It’s a big boost to see him again.
“When Jof is there, he adds a lot to the group, not only as a player, but as a person and as a character. He has obviously had a difficult journey in recent years with his injuries and was thanked the hard work he has put to be back in this position to be able to play Test Cricket again.
“More delighted for him than we really because I know how difficult it is to go through long injury spells. We did not have the layoffs he had, but even just a little here and there, it can be mentally difficult, so full credit for him and the opportunity to play again for England.
“His best is probably still ahead of him. I’m sure he’s getting back to come back there and showing people what he has already done in whites.
“We all know how good he can be, but he is at an age when his best is still in front of him, who comes out for him and us.
“I hope that when he comes back there, it will be great to see him again and great for fans.”
