The English teenager Kris Kim has another chance of testing her game against the best in the world this week in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, a year from the start of the PGA Tour to remember in Texas.
Kim received the exemption from a sponsor by CJ Group – which also sponsored it individually – to do it again at TPC Craig Ranch, where Scottie Scheffler World 1 Scottie bares a solid field which also contains the major triple winner Jordan Spieth.
The amateur made the headlines in last year’s competition, when he became the youngest European player to have a reduction in the PGA Tour, the fifth youngest in history and a first 16-year-old to reach weekends since 2015.
Kim suspended his GCSE revision 12 months ago to finish in 65th place, as Taylor Pendrith won a victory for a blowWith the 17 -year -old who seeks to rely on the historical performances of last year and to impress once again.
“It was so fun the first time I want to feel everything again – every four days,” said Kim.
On the results of the exam, Kim added: “I did well with my results, except for religious studies – I revised the subject entirely bad for that one!”
Kim needed a peer on the 18th hole in fi in his second round last year to make the cup and showed calculation beyond his years to produce a sixth birdie of the day and reach safe on weekends.
“There will always be nerves when you are on the cut – it is a par -five has been useful,” said Kim afterwards, after resisting going for green in half and lengthening to install his six -foot Birdie.
Kim is already a multiple winner at the age group level, including the amateur championship of boys of R&A 2023, the undefeated adolescent in the junior triumph of the Ryder Cup of Europe later that year and recently made his male debut in England in their biennial confrontation with Spain.
Kim will once again have the star of the LPGA tour, Rose Zhang, Caddy Olly Brett on the bag for his return PGA Tour, when he continues to have the support of his mother Ji -Hyun Suh – one of the first Korean pioneers of the LPGA tour in the 1990s.
The couple had a slight disagreement on the way he would have played well in this year’s masters, Kim trying to draw inspiration from the success of Rory McILroy’s Grand Slam when looking for improvements in his own game.
“She thought the cup would miss,” joked Kim. “Thank you mom!” I think I could have played on weekends.
“I’m not really looking at golf, but how could I not look at this?” I was looking at bed and it was so cool. When Rory hit him in the bunkers on the first two holes, I thought it might not be his day.
“It is inspiring to see someone overthrow so often and continue to get up. His conduct is his big skill and that inspires me to improve the tee. It distinguishes him. I like the form of shooting and his approach drawn at 15 when he was behind the tree that made me amazed.”
