Gerwyn Price has won his last six games against Luke Littler and does not want this record to stop anytime soon, especially in the Premier League.
Price’s most recent victory against the reigning world champion came at night six of the Premier League in Nottingham when the “Iceman” amazed the Littler 6-3 in the final to win his second title of the season and go to third place in the table with 12 points.
He extends the expectation of Littleler for a victory against Price and stands the Welshman in good place while the table tightens more and more.
While Price insists on the fact that he approaches playing Littler not differently from the way he plays other opponents, he believes that Littler is in many players and he could also affect the 18 -year -old.
“It doesn’t make a difference for me,” said Price. “It will make a difference for him.
“I play Luke as I play all the other players. It’s just another number for me. I think that’s my strength.
“I do not worry who I play, be it Luke, one of the Lukes (Humphries), Michael (Van Gerwen), anyone.
“I’m just going up and playing my own game and don’t worry about another player, while other players, I think Luke is probably a little in their heads. I could be a little in Luke’s head.
“But I introduce myself and play. No matter who I play.”
While Price ended his victory for Night Six against Littler by declaring that the world No. 2 is a player who becomes unstoppable, he hopes that his record for victory against him will continue.
Indeed, he had to wait a long time himself to finally guarantee a victory over van Gerwen and he hopes that he will be able to provoke the same anxiety for Littleler, who faces Nathan Aspinall In the quarter -final on Thursday.
“I just think he’s brilliant but I don’t think it’s something I do. I just think it’s the way he thinks the minute,” he added.
“It took me a while to win a victory over Michael Van Gerwen, then when I did, everything was fine. I hope he won’t get this victory for a while.”
An additional element for Price is that when he will be released for Thursday’s quarter -final against Rob Cross at night seven, he will have the additional pressure of the Cardiff in the hometown behind him.
This means that it will be more focused than ever to give spectators something to encourage.
“I know there is a lot of pressure on me tomorrow, that I put on myself, not on anyone else. Because I want to go out and play for the Welsh crowd and give them something they can encourage,” said Price.
“It’s just a pressure that I put on myself. I don’t want to go there and lose the first round and not give something to the crowd.
“They will enjoy the night, whatever happens, but if I’m still there, I’m playing very well, arrive in the final and even win it, I’m sure the crowd will be just behind me and will take advantage of it a little more.
“I just put pressure on myself, that’s all. Nothing anywhere else.
“Cardiff is another level. When I go, they are just behind me. When they sing, the atmosphere is brilliant.
“It is one of the smallest places of the Premier League, which again puts the atmosphere aside.
“I can’t wait to be there. I only get it once a year, so the fingers have crossed that it will be the same tomorrow.”
