De Bruyne has, in the past decade, was undoubtedly Manchester City and the player off competition from the Premier League. His stay at the Etihad stadium, however, now seems to end, with the Belgian international, 33, who should leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

According to a new Spanish report, Man City has already submitted a huge 110 million euros (92.5 million pounds sterling) to RB Leipzig for the services of the Xavi Simons midfielderwho they consider a potential replacement of De Bruyne.

The Spanish publication reports that the city’s boss PEP Guodiola is eager to land Simons at all costs, and hopes that the young Dutchman can be a key element of his project in the future. Leipzig has not yet responded to the offer.

Simons joined Leipzig for a permanent agreement of Paris Saint-Germain earlier this year, after initially joined the club loan in 2023. Near the Red Bull Arena, Simons was one of the most remarkable players in German football, scoring 18 goals and providing 19 assists in 68 games of all competitions.

Bayern Munich would also be interested in Simons, with the club sports director Christoph Freund last year praised the young woman of 21 years.

“He developed very well,” said Freund. “I think he will have a very good career at the highest level. He has everything, mentality, character and is just an exceptional player.”
