Another defeat at Old Trafford. But it was not the same old Manchester United.
There have been hopes in their 1-0 defeat against Arsenal.
They played with strong gusts of electricity and in fact wounded the artillerymen from different angles with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo by maintaining their first league form of last season.
Finally, Ruben Amorim has players in central attack areas that can cause chaos with their direct race and their power.
Cunha ranked top for dribbles (6) and duels (20) while all that Mbeumo did was very positive although it was closely marked during most of the meeting.
If they play Old Trafford this season regularly, it could become a difficult place for outdoor teams. A total of goals expected of 1.59 suggests that they were good for at least one goal. No points but a promising start.
Something to rely on.

The Nottingham Forest has made a little mockery of the pre-match concerns of Nuno Espirito Santo in an opening match of the fruitful season.
Nuno referred to a “lack of options” in his team in the middle of the week, which he doubled after a categorical victory 3-1. “The club knows the needs of the team, so we have to be patient and see. The more quickly they come, the better,” he said.
Perhaps the forest needs additional bodies to compete on European borders in addition to the commitments of the Premier League, but it is already a fairly complete team.
New signatures Omari Hutchinson and James Mcatee were unveiled before kick -off at City Ground, before new teammates put a class demonstration. They did everything better than Brentford, who, in truth, was not difficult.
However, Morgan Gibbs-White was sweating style. Elliot Anderson ran in the midfield and produced an early pretender for the help of the season. Chris Wood resumed where he stopped last year, marking twice. Callum Hudson-Odoi was also a handle.
Nuno should count lucky. It is an exciting team with exceptional talents. What more did he want to want?

When Chelsea exhaustively sent Paris Saint-Germain to the warmth of New Jersey in July, there was a feeling of excitement that was growing around the Enzo Maresca team. Perhaps they could be a black horse for the title of Premier League 2025/26.
Cut in their opening match in Stamford Bridge and the difference is night and day. Of course, nobody expected a similar style of play. Crystal Palace was never going to be as open as European champions, and the hosts were not going to count on blistering counterattacks. But the drop in intensity of Maresca’s men was clear to see.
Chelsea looked slowly, as if they always dust the cobwebs. And that questions what their preparation looked like before the start of the new campaign. Due to the end of the Club World Cup, the Blues only returned to training on August 4 and only played two pre-season friendly games.
Maresca even admitted after the match that it was the first appropriate match of his team since the tournament, because he had taken the exhibitions with Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan as opportunities to distribute uniformly the minutes, rather than just for his star players.
Some may indicate the fact that Manchester City was also present at the Club World Cup and managed to comfortably send the Wolves 4-0 in their opening match. However, their shocking elimination in the hands of Al Hilal gave Pep Guardiola a chance to bring his players back a few days earlier – on July 28 to be exact – and that clearly helped them.
In the end, perhaps the fall of Chelsea in their preparations continued to be the size of their team, Maresca’s desire to give every minute pre-season costing them one side of the well-broken palace.
They will have to recover and get back quickly, as they visit West Ham on Friday, live Sky SportsAnd the Hammers will be desperate to bounce back after a difficult start of the season themselves.

A goal of a set of set and great defensive resilience. The characteristics of Arsenal were exhibited when they had the victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford. But they were also indebted to the heroism of their n ° 1 David Raya, who asserts the best goalkeeper of the Premier League.
Raya, who shared the Golden Glove Award with Matz Sels from Nottingham Forest last season, having won it squarely in the previous campaign, was the exceptional interpreter of the game, rightly named player of the match for keeping Manchester United from a distance.
His best time came in the first half, when he made his fingers to an inclined effort by Matheus Cunha. Even he was not sure of the way he succeeded. “I don’t know how I saved it to be honest, it was very close to my feet,” he said Sky Sports After.
Gary Neville was also impressed. “It is a safeguard hell,” he said on the co-warrant. It was one of the seven made by Raya during the match, the most by all the goalkeepers of the opening weekend of the Premier League so far.
It is not only the stops that have stood out. While his opposite number Altay Bayindir was punished for omitting to order his box for the goal of Arsenal, Raya was dominant, claiming crosses, connecting with punches and spreading calm thanks to his defense.
There are of course others who have a case like the best in the Premier League, Alisson Becker from Liverpool being a chief among them. But Raya’s performance at Old Trafford was a continuation of last season, and a recall that he should be part of the conversation.

If someone seemed likely to put Crystal Palace the three points at Stamford Bridge, it was Ebelechi Eze. And he almost did it, if not for Var working to exclude the free kick he pulled before Robert Sanchez.
“I expect it to be back and playing for us against Fredrikstad,” was Oliver Glasner’s response when asked by Sky Sports About the 27 -year future. But if it turns out that it was the last time that Eze has been seen in the colors of the palace, it was another recall of its influence.
Since the start of the 2023/24 season, the Eagles have won once in 15 games without England International. Palace has already lost great players and replaced them. Ismaila Sarr is proof of this, because he took place magnificently after Michael Olise joined Bayern Munich.
However, a departure from Eze could prove to have major consequences for the winners of the FA Cup in the future.

On the basis of 90 punctual minutes, granted to a small sample size, the pre-season claims that Brentford could fight this season are on money. The exhausted side of Keith Andrews, missing Yoane Wissa, disappointed in all the departments of the city of the city.
No team reaches the first level at the opening weekend, it is not realistic to expect it. But as Andrews himself recognized, there was very little to love the performance levels of any player in a Brentford shirt. They were the antithesis of the elegant forest of Nottingham, in fact.
Andrews underwent a shooting baptism, having to swallow a bitter pill after conceding a routine from Chris Wood Corner just five minutes from the game – whose irony was not lost for the former set coach. He made all the right noises after the match, emphasizing the “players who assume responsibility”, but it is clear that he needs a little help.
If Brentford’s hierarchy sells Wissa, having already left Bryan Mbeumo to go to this window, they will have to reinvest – and quickly.
